I like to write songs, record and play music. When I’m not doing that I’m probably on my phone, eating, watching TV, collaging, hanging out with my dogs and cats and siblings.
You can find me at home, at the beach, in the forest. If I’m not at one of those places I’m probably in the car – driving to one of those places or a gig. Otherwise I’ll be at home cleaning up around the house, making a mess around the house, working on some kind of project, drilling holes in something or taking something apart, painting, or my favorite thing- moving objects from one place to another. Sometimes I’ll listen to music or read a book. Go outside to run around, think and listen to the sounds of nature.
Out and about you might see me playing on a stage, running sound somewhere, taking photos, shooting video.
You definitely won’t see me releasing much of anything- except maybe onto this website.
Right now I’m most likely in nature or on my phone – maybe both. Either way, most definitely with my dogs. Maybe also with Maloo.
Current Projects
The Songwriting Mind
The Songwriting Mind is a recording project I started in December 2024. I travel to meet songwriters in person and record in-depth conversations about their creative process – how songs get made, where they come from, what they mean. I’ve recorded over 40 interviews so far, released 13 episodes as a produced podcast and adapted the project into live settings at venues and festivals. Check it out!
Creative Archive & Documentation
I began to envision building this archive in early 2025 as I wanted to explore different means of sharing my work outside of typical modern pathways such as social media and streaming services. I imagined a website where I could share not only my recordings and videos of my music but also a broader range of entries about my creative and personal life. My first entries were written and published in September 2025 and gradually I have produced larger pieces, even branching out from song specific entries to write about dreams, travels, concepts and events from my past. My goal is to eventually write entries for all of my songs, periods of my life and the many different collaborative projects I have been involved with over the years. More than anything I just wish to keep putting creative time and intention into exploring this means of sharing my thoughts and see where it takes me – I have been pleasantly surprised so far along the way.
Musical Projects & Songs
I’ve produced work across many genres – acoustic, folk, electronic, hard rock, metal, and more. After fronting the rock band The Planet Of and playing as an instrumentalist in bands like Tiller of the Moon, Dry Spell, Mondo Mundo, Cockeyed Optimist, Maggie Moon, Milk Juice, and Xinxin between California and Oregon for over a decade, I’ve developed as a self-produced artist with a large body of mostly unreleased work.
After years of struggling with the gap between creating and releasing, I’ve come to the understanding that the primary drive for me to create comes from the process of creation itself. Releasing singles, EPs, albums, making social media content – none of that interests me very much. I don’t believe songs are ever finished, only recordings, and I don’t believe any one recording is the definitive version of a song. The song is something more abstract, fleeting, intangible. As I go through my life my songs continue to grow and change, and I believe they will continue to take other forms. All my recordings are self-produced demos, with lyrics drawn from personal experience and creative exploration. The entries on this site will provide context to how and why the songs came to be, what they represent and how they fit into the overall mythology of my existence. Besides this website, the best place to listen to my demos would be on Soundcloud
P.S. I’m sick of Instagram and Facebook. I want to share my work in a medium that doesn’t feel ethically questionable, even if it limits potential reach. As long as this WordPress subscription gets paid, whatever I build here will remain, perhaps even after I’m gone.
